Christelle et Daphné, AKA Chris & Daph are twin sisters. Daphné is older by 30 minutes, taller by half an inch and bigger by -shhh...-lbs.

Born in Brussels, they moved to the country side at the age of 2. Eventually , at age 18, they went back to the capital and started an intense cohabitation in their equally intense 380 square feet apartment. Daphné became a speech pathologist then an acupuncturist and Christelle, a skilled elementary school teacher.

Then, in 2010, the split happened, Daphné and her other better half (hubby) decided to go wild and leave dear old Belgium for NYC. Skype, WhatsApp and some psychic powers will make the twins survive the distance. And thank you Buddha for Chris being a teacher! She will spend each summer and more on Daph’s couch in NYC.

BUT, try to separate twins and their “gathering” instinct will kick in. The need to embark on a joint venture naturally arose (along with plenty of new excuses to keep calling each other). Dangerously close to their 35th birthday, they decided to start a collection of mismatched shoes for kids! But WHY ON EARTH?

Because the mere thought of it would bring a smile to their faces and many happy memories from childhood to their minds. As kids, their mom would buy them the same shoes but often in different colors and they would sometimes switch them to create an extra level of twinitude.

The plan was clear, they would make TWINS SHOES, shoes that are not identical but complement each other. Shoes sometimes very similar, sometimes not . Just like real life twins!

Highly visible shoes for invisible People !

Selling awesome shoes was an excitement but there had to be another side of their business, something that would be meaningful and help address REAL problems. As far back as they could remember, the twins have felt empathetically bonded to the cause of homelessness and to its people’s struggle. Practicing without second thoughts the basics of emptying their pockets, buying meals and whispering to themselves “I really wish that someone will give them a chance.” But then wait!  What if that someone was them?

The bells rang, the WALK IN MY SHOES program came then to life and the mission was, ACCEPTED. They would mainly hire people in need and do what they can to encourage people (you customer and you reader) to random little acts of kindness.

The idea of twin shoes with good karma validated, it then took a year to develop the line and a big chunk of their savings to end up here. This online store and these shoes un peu beaucoup off the beaten path.

Allez, bisous.
